KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 (Bernama) — Malaysia and Finland are taking steps to deepen collaboration in education, with Malaysian education innovator Carol Yap Yee Yee’s participation at the HundrED Education Innovation Summit 2024 spotlighting the country’s growing role in global education reform.
Held for three days from Nov 12 in Helsinki, the summit showcased groundbreaking education initiatives, including Yap’s transformative “From Educator to Edupreneur” programme under education organisation YelaoShr.
The programme empowers teachers to become entrepreneurs, earning a spot in the prestigious HundrED Global Collection 2025 for its scalability and impact in reshaping education.
Charge d’Affaires at the Malaysian Embassy in Finland, Mohamed Ariff Mohamed Ali, commended Yap’s achievement, saying it aligns “Education has always been a cornerstone of Malaysia-Finland relations, and the recognition of YelaoShr at this international platform reflects Malaysia‘s growing role in education innovation.
“This is a step forward in forging closer ties between our nations, benefiting teachers, students, and the broader education ecosystem,” he said in a statement shared with Bernama, recently.
On a similar note, Mohamed Ariff added that Malaysia and Finland are currently working to finalise a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Education and Research, which aims to foster the exchange of best practices and facilitate collaborations that benefit both nations.
“This agreement will create opportunities for Malaysian and Finnish educators and researchers to exchange ideas and expertise, ultimately contributing to the global advancement of education.
“We hope it will inspire more Malaysian innovators to shine on the world stage,” he said.
Yap’s innovation not only addresses financial instability among teachers but also provides sustainable career paths, enabling them to thrive as changemakers in their communities, Mohamed Ariff further noted.
The HundrED Summit, established in 2016, serves as a global platform to highlight scalable and impactful educational innovations.
