The year-end school holidays are just around the corner, and this time, YELAOSHR Creative Preschool+ is giving children the opportunity to experience the process of making and selling ice cream firsthand by becoming “One-Day Ice Cream Shop Assistants.” As part of this exciting activity, the children visited an actual Inside Scoop outlet, where they worked alongside teachers to get a taste of what it’s like to manage the daily operations of an ice cream shop.
From learning about the ingredients used in ice cream to understanding the process of making it, decorating their own shop, and finally “selling” their creations to customers (their parents), the children at Creative Preschool+ gained a comprehensive understanding of running an ice cream shop. Parents enthusiastically praised the event, noting its meaningful, theme-based approach that allowed their kids to enjoy a unique and hands-on learning experience.
「Responsibility Begins with Everyday Actions」
On the first and second days of the activity, the children will start by searching for the ingredients needed to make ice cream. Using their senses—touch, smell, taste, and sight—they will try to guess each ingredient. Following this, they will learn the process of making ice cream. The teachers will then assign roles to each child, helping them understand the importance of every role in the activity. Finally, the children will prepare for the tasks they will undertake as part of the event.
「Experience It All at a Real Ice Cream Shop!」
On the third day, the children will visit the Inside Scoop ice cream shop to explore its facilities and learn about the different types of ice cream. Following this, they will practice each assigned role and carry out their tasks in the real shop environment. At the end of the day, we will emphasize to the children that it is their hard work and teamwork that made each task a success.「Learning Through Failure」
During the process, some children may lack confidence or encounter setbacks. In such moments, it’s important not to stop them from feeling sad but rather to guide them through the challenges. Confidence is a genuine feeling that comes from real experiences. Allowing children to learn from “failure” provides an excellent opportunity for them to build confidence through the journey. As they strive to overcome difficulties, it’s crucial to recognize their strengths and highlight their efforts. Encouraging them and expanding their experiences will further enhance their growth and self-assurance.「Expressing Feelings and Sharing Experiences」
On the fourth day, we provide the children with an opportunity to express their feelings and share their experiences. They will reflect on what they have learned over the past few days, the challenges they faced, how they overcame them, and the moments that brought them joy. Following this, the children will begin preparations for the final day of the activity—a mini ice cream sale event held at the preschool. Parents will be invited to witness their children’s best efforts. During this time, we’ll see the children enthusiastically setting up and decorating their little ice cream shops, ready to showcase their hard work and creativity.
This simulated mini ice cream sale event allows the children to showcase everything they have learned over the past few days in a fun and complete way. It’s also an opportunity for parents and children to participate in the activity together.
Not only does this make for a wonderful parent-child bonding experience, but it also gives parents the chance to witness their children’s liveliness and enthusiasm throughout the activity. It’s a memorable day that highlights both learning and family connection.
